618 Transmission The 618 transmission, later renamed the 47RE (electrically controlled governor pressure) and the 47RH (hydraulically controlled governor pressure), is a heavy-duty version of the transmission known as the 518. Beginning in the middle 19990s, the 618 transmission were utilized in vans and trucks. When used with the Cummins Turbo-Diesel with a 5.9L engine as well as the 8.0 L V-10 the 618 has some internal changes, otherwise, it remains a 727 with strengthened internalized parts and overdrive. The input torque rating of the 618 transmission is 450lbs. per foot. The 48RE transmission is a four-speed, electrically-governed overdrive automatic transmission, stronger than that of its 47-series predecessor.
