68RFE Remanufactured Transmissions
The 68RFE transmission was first introduced in 2007 for the Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 Pickup Trucks with the 6.7L Cummins ISB Diesel engines. While the basic design of the 68RFE transmission was similar, if not the same as the 45RFE and 545RFE transmissions, there were some exceptions. The 68RFE was built with a larger bellhousing and had a different bolt pattern and cutout intended to accommodate the diesel engine, and the internal components of the 68RFE were modified to facilitiate the increased torque of the diesel engine. The 68RFE transmission also had revised gear ratios and a transmission controller for larger applications. Additionally, the 68FRE did not have a 2nd gear prime for downshifting that was included in the 45RFE
and 54RFE transmissions.
